2017 Mock Meet
Hello Fighting Turtles Families,
This email contains a lot of information, but please read all of it.
We are all very excited about our Mock Meet at King and the Bear Tomorrow evening. This is a great way for us to prepare for the season. New and returning swimmers can begin establishing times for the season. New swim parents can learn the flow of a swim meet and we as a board and coaches can make sure we are ready to go for the season.
Coach Junior would like for all swimmers to have the opportunity to participate in our Mock Meet. Some will be swimming an event for the first time. Even if your swimmer isn’t quite ready for a “real meet,” our mock meet is small enough and we have enough coaches on deck to help out if needed. Just encourage your swimmer to do their very best and not to worry about mistakes. This is a practice meet.
Our board members will be in green Fighting Turtle shirts and are available to help if you need anything. Veteran parents are also a great resource for new families as you learn the process.
Heat Sheets
Attached are the Heat Sheet and Entry List for our Mock Meet. The Entry list is an alphabetical list of swimmers with their events, heats, and lane assignments. The heat sheet is the program for the meet. Red Boxes indicate combined events.
Please print these and bring them with you so you can follow along with the meet. We WILL NOT have extra heat sheets.
***If you do not see your swimmer’s name on the entry list or heat sheet and plan to be at the mock meet, Please text Angela (904)327-3049, and we will correct it.
For those parents who are new to swimming, there is a very helpful link at the top left corner of our website that gives a great explanation of how to read a heat sheet.
The ready bench is the staging area where our swimmers will get organized before their events. There are volunteers who will help get everyone lined up for their events. Listen for announcements and look for event numbers displayed showing which events are lining up at the ready bench.
Arrival
Please arrive at the King and Bear pool no later than at 4:15pm.
Warm-ups will begin at 4:30. The meet will begin at 5:00. We understand that some families will not be able to be on time for this school/ work night meet.
All swimmers and volunteers, please check-in as soon as you enter the gate. (If you arrive a little late, just let one of the board members know when your swimmer gets to the meet.)
There will be a volunteer meeting at 4:40 for all volunteers.
What to Wear
Swimmers should wear team swimsuits and all swimmers should wear swim caps during the meet. Remember your goggles.
***Please write your child's last name, first initial and event numbers on the back of their left shoulder with a black sharpie.
Don't forget to label all Fighting Turtles apparel...we don’t want to add to our lost and found.
Swimmers, if you haven’t picked up your team swimsuit and T shirts, Stacie will have them at the mock meet tomorrow.
Don’t forget sunscreen and bug spray!
Food and Drinks
Mathnasium, our Gold Sponsor, will be providing bottled waters during the meet.
Food Trucks will be at the meet...please bring cash. Tasty Dog Hot Dogs and Tikiz Shaved Ice and Ice Cream will be at the meet. There are menus attached to this email. Both Trucks will donate a portion of their revenues to the Fighting Turtles. You are welcome to bring your own coolers and snacks as well.
Parking
Please park in the parking lot first. If this area is full, there will be parking permitted in an empty lot just past the windmill roundabout. Please follow signage and only park in the designated area labeled with signage as a parking area. There are 2 empty lots next to each other but we only have permission to park on one. Do not park on the road or at the golf club.
