Swim Updates
Hello everyone,
We are in the planning stages of reopening our season and we wanted to let you know what our revised season will include to see if this works for your family. We will know more on June 16th when the Murabella CDD meets.
- There will be no Saturday meets. We are working with other teams to come up with virtual meets though. We will conduct time trials and the two teams will merge results for placements. There will be ribbons!
- We are extending the season until July 31st to allow for 7 weeks.
- We hope the start date will be shortly after the June 16th CDD meeting.
- Cost is $85 for the season (outside residents have an additional facility fee). Will will not be providing shirts or caps this year to keep costs down, but we do have caps for sale. The price is based on the cost of insurance and coach fees.
- All swimmers must have their own equipment (we cannot share kickboards or fins, but the coach is planning on working around that)
- We must keep practices to 20 swimmers or less (no more than 4 per lane-2 swimmers on each side).
- No parents on deck- we will be providing a parent drop off and pick up line this year.
- We will be required to ask COVID screening questions daily.
- Parents will still be expected to volunteer this year. Since we have a drop off service this year, we would like parents to commit to two hours of volunteering to help us with parent drop off/pick up and to help us monitor social distancing practices.
- At this point, the CDD Is recommending that swimmers be 9 or over to join. The reason for this is to limit the physical proximity between coaches and younger swimmers who may need more assistance. While we understand this recommendation, we also know that some of our 7 and 8 year olds are very capable swimmers and do not need intervention or assistance. We have asked the board to reconsider this age requirement and this will be decided on June 16th. As such, we can't offer you exact practice times.
Again, we realize this is not ideal and the information is still quite vague. If you have registered and you know this plan will not work for your family, please email us and let us know. If your child is registered but under the age of 9, please continue to be patient as we will notify you of the CDD's decision. Only notify us if your 9 and under child will NOT be swimming.
Thank you all for your patience and support. We hope you are all well.
